Back at Mandai Track 15 again, and I found a big orange weevil (looks like a micro-version of an ant-eater). Many a time, these weevils had let go of everything to fall off the branch or leaf when I approached. Clumsy and slow fellas, but the free-fall method seems an effective method of escape as I had never managed to locate one after it fell.

#1 Cycad Blue with morning dew on it’s wings

#2 Another shot with brighter background

#3 Lynx Spider guarding it’s nest

#4 Side view of the mother and nest. The nest is overexposed in this one so you can’t see the details.

#5 Ant-mimicking jumping spider

#6 There’s the weevil! Walks in slow-motion and in a clumsy manner, but seen clinging on silently while the ants get busy in the background

#7 Marches along the edge of a leaf

#8 The weevil takes a rest

#9 Pausing on a leaf, not a good choice as their grip isn’t known to be fantastic. That was the last shot, before it just slipped down into the pile of dead leaves.

#10 Lots of wolf spiders with egg sacs near the entrance, I’m actually keen to find them when the kids come out.
