Final Visits to Mandai Orchid Garden

on
6 November 2010
The Mandai Orchid Garden lease would be up in 2011. We’re not sure if it would still be around after that, so the Macromaniacs made this place their latest shootout location. Still in abundance of macro subjects, but weather was so hot that we spent more time idling in the shade than hunting for bugs.

DSC_8063#1 Spotted this long legged fly sucking from what looked like shit on the leaf

DSC_8071#2 Kissing the ground (leaf) you walk on

DSC_8105#3 It is also extremely sensitive to flash. Each shot had it perking up suddenly, resulting in blurry pictures (Used faster shutter for this one)

Assassin Bug (Reduviidae) - DSC_8170#6 Mating black assassin bugs, in very awkward position and kept moving!

Assassin Bug (Reduviidae) - DSC_8174#7 Turning around again and again

I heard the garden might be closed soon. So, I created a virtual tour of it here: http://bit.ly/OrchidGardenMandai, If it is closed, I hope it will live online in this virtual tour.
